Origin Story:

Melvin came to SCENTdog Collective at 9-months-old from a LA County animal shelter. This energetic little herding breed mix clearly hadn’t experienced much in his previous life, but that didn’t stop him from taking on every new challenge with enthusiasm. From climbing stairs to playing with toys and exploring new environments, Melvin showed no fear and was ready to tackle it all.

His crate training was a breeze—slept through the night without a problem—and learned to love travel too. Living with other social dogs made for a smooth transition, and he quickly adapted to this foster home.

What really stood out about Melvin was his love for training. Melvin's food-motivation, biddable nature, and love of learning made him a joy to train. He picked up the basics and developed excellent leash skills. with a strong foundation in obedience. His athleticism shines through, especially when he’s running up and down the agility A-frames with ease.

Melvin’s temperament is as sweet as they come. With some continued training, he could even become an amazing therapy dog. He’s got the perfect balance of energy and gentleness, and his enthusiasm for life is contagious. It was clear when Melvin met his forever family—it was love at first sight. A match made in heaven for this lovable goofball!
