Hera

Origin Story:

Hera was found at an LA County Animal Shelter having been found as a stray in the Antelope Valley along with her companion, a male German short-haired pointer. Her companion was adopted, but Hera was sadly exposed to Parvovirus by her kennel mate at the shelter. She was placed in quarantine where she also contracted bordetella, a typical cold-like illness in dogs common in shelters. During treatment, Hera's ability to connect with potential adopters was limited. Her online posting enabled SCENTdog Collective to become aware of her. She was evaluated and immediately brought under the rescue's care.

As a young, purebred German short-haired pointer with a lovely personality, it was felt that she would be a quick adoption once she was well. She just needed time, medication, good food, and a safe place to recover. She was only with the rescue long enough to get over her cold, she was never Parvo positive, when word went out of her availability for adoption. Colleagues of the trainer at SCENTdog Collective met Hera at her foster home and fell quickly in love. She was taken to their home on a two-week trial adoption which lasted all of two days before they eagerly made her a permanent addition to their family.

Hera now has an older weimaraner brother and sister whom she adores. She has a wonderful, extended human family who take her everywhere they go. Hera has discovered that she loves to swim and to play with the grandkids. She has started in K9 Nose Work and looks to be a rising star in the sport. Her family's nickname for her is "Sugar" because she is just so sweet.
